ASPCA's Adopt A Shelter Dog Month
Here at Hamilton Road Animal Hospital in Columbus, we see all types of dogs. We care just as much for your mixed-breed dog as we do your purebred. All dogs are considered special by our veterinary staff. That is why we are proud to support ASPCA's Adopt a Shelter Dog Month in October.
History
There are an estimated 3.3 million dogs that find their way to shelters every year. These dogs are seeking a forever home with a family that will love them and provide them with regular veterinary care. In 1981, the ASPCA decided to designate October as Adopt a Shelter Dog Month to help make the world aware of shelter dogs.
Veterinary Care for Pets
When you adopt a dog, a visit to a vet is always a good idea. You get a chance to introduce your new family member to someone who will be there in times of both wellness and illness. You will also have a chance to spay or neuter your dog, update his or her immunizations, and microchip your pet. Visiting a veterinarian for pet care helps your dog to live a longer, happier, and healthier life.
Why Adopt?
With so many dogs available for adoption, it is easy to find one that fits perfectly with your lifestyle and family. By adopting a dog, you gain many benefits that come with owning a dog, such as reduced stress, improved social life, and of course, love. Also, you give your new dog a chance at life again.
